Description

As a Steering Specialist in Technical Insurances, you will hold a key role within the organization, where you will have the opportunity to:
  • Take the lead in directing your designated line of business to drive profitable growth in alignment with established plans, while adhering to company standards.
  • Formulate underwriting strategies and guidelines for your specific line of business, collaborating with Underwriting team members to put them into action effectively.
  • Handle complex underwriting referrals that go beyond the scope of Underwriters.
  • Define and execute technical product development initiatives in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
  • Carefully oversee and track your portfolio to ensure financial objectives (e.g., combined ratio) are achieved.
  • Establish underwriting strategies to promote profitable growth and supervise their implementation.
  • Identify market opportunities, such as new markets, target demographics, and clients, through collaboration with other departments.
  • Conduct Underwriting Reviews, manage exceptional underwriting cases within established authorizations, and coordinate facultative reinsurance needs.
  • Maintain effective communication with various departments within the organization. Building and nurturing relationships is crucial, as is active participation in local, regional, and Group projects, and representing externally in specific insurance association workgroups.

Your profile

  • You are required to possess a Master's degree or equivalent experience to meet the educational qualifications.
  • Your background should include a minimum of ten years of experience, preferably in technical corporate insurances, with consideration also given to candidates with knowledge in Property or Liability Insurance.
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in either Dutch and/or French (team languages) is essential for effective communication within the team.
  • Your IT skills should encompass strong data management capabilities to excel in the role.
  • You excel in analytical tasks, particularly with numbers, and are able to provide sound justifications for your decisions.
  • Your charismatic personality allows you to engage and influence stakeholders effectively in various situations.
  • As a challenger, you fearlessly question underwriters' decisions and strive to achieve optimal outcomes for the organization.
  • Effective communication, especially through storytelling, is a key part of your skill set, making you an efficient and persuasive storyteller in various scenarios.
