Description

There’s a difference between underwriting a portfolio… and helping shape how a market approaches cyber risk.

I’m currently working with a fast-growing European player that has been built specifically around cyber risks.

In a few years’ time, they’ve grown into a well-funded scale-up with strong backing from top-tier investors and a client base of thousands of SMEs across Europe. Their ambition is clear: to become a leading reference in how cyber risk is managed, combining insurance with prevention, monitoring and incident response.

In practice, that means they don’t just step in when something goes wrong. They aim to support companies before, during and after an incident, which fundamentally changes the role underwriting plays in the conversation.
To support their growth in the Benelux, they’re looking for a Senior Cyber Underwriter covering Flanders and the Netherlands, two markets with their own dynamics, both key in their expansion strategy.

What the role looks like:
  • Underwriting and pricing cyber risks for SME and mid-market clients
  • Building and managing the portfolio across Flanders and the Netherlands
  • Acting as a technical counterpart in broker discussions (in close collaboration with sales)
  • Supporting key commercial conversations, enabling deals rather than directly leading them
  • Adapting underwriting approaches to the specificities of each market
  • Working closely with claims and incident response teams to stay aligned with real risk trends
  • Contributing to the broader growth strategy in the region
This is not a back-office underwriting role. You’re part of the story in the market.

What makes the environment interesting:
  • A company that has scaled rapidly and continues to expand across Europe
  • A clear ambition, backed by strong funding and a solid growth trajectory
  • A culture of transparency: information is shared, decisions are accessible
  • A structure where underwriting and commercial teams work closely together
  • Real room to take ownership and grow into a broader role over time

Your profile

What they expect:
  • Experience in cyber underwriting, or in adjacent lines (Financial Lines, Liability…)
  • Credibility towards brokers, someone who can engage, not just analyse
  • Ability to navigate both Flanders and the Dutch market, even if you are initially stronger in one
  • A pragmatic, hands-on mindset with the ability to challenge

Offer

What’s on offer:
  • Monthly salary indication: € 1501 - € 6500
  • A competitive gross salary, aligned with your experience and positioning in the market
  • A variable bonus around 10%
  • A company car as part of the package
  • The possibility to access shares/equity for profiles with strong impact potential
  • A high degree of flexibility: largely remote, with targeted presence on the market when it matters
  • Full coverage of business travel and regular company gatherings
  • A role with real visibility, where your contribution directly impacts growth
If you’re at a point where you want your role to be more outward-facing, more impactful and less confined to a traditional underwriting scope, I’m happy to exchange.
