Description
To support our client’s growth ambitions in the real estate segment, we are seeking an energetic and results-oriented junior underwriter to join their team.In this role:
- You will analyze and assess risks within the Property line of business for corporate clients.
- You will advise on risk acceptance and make decisions that contribute to profitability.
- In consultation with your colleagues, you will work to ensure the profitability of the existing portfolio and, where necessary, make technically sound proposals to optimize it. You will also negotiate these with brokers.
- You will proactively collaborate with the Underwriting team to establish a consistent underwriting policy.
- You propose initiatives to improve underwriting quality standards and strengthen our position in the corporate market.
- You build and maintain commercial relationships with brokers and clients in a flexible and efficient manner.
- You stay informed about the latest industry developments and invest in your own growth through continuous professional development.
- You support your teammates with complex cases and actively seek collaboration with technical inspectors, which gives you extra satisfaction.
- Your permanent workplace is in Antwerp, Brussels, or Charleroi (one of the three locations).
Your profile
The ideal candidate:- Preferably has a solid understanding of the laws and regulations governing property insurance in the commercial sector, with a specific focus on products such as “named perils” and “all risks except” special risks.
- Has gained initial experience as an underwriter or claims handler, preferably in this specific segment.
- Is well-versed in the commercial insurance market and the associated brokerage sector.
- Approaches matters from a customer- and results-oriented perspective, has an analytical mindset, is creative, and possesses strong persuasive skills; also takes proactive initiative.
- Works effectively within a team, is eager to learn, and open to change.
- Holds a master’s or bachelor’s degree or has a comparable background through experience; a technical master’s degree is a plus.
- Has excellent knowledge of Dutch. Do you speak French well? That is certainly a major asset.
