Description

In this role, you will be responsible for managing claims files from start to finish. Your responsibilities will include the following:
  • You will manage claims files from start to finish, from the moment a claim is filed through to payment and closure, including initiating recovery actions where necessary.
  • You will analyze the details and facts following a claim report and correctly register new claims files in an internal system based on information provided by the insured and/or broker.
  • If necessary, you will appoint an expert and coordinate the follow-up in consultation with the broker.
  • You will report internal updates on significant claims files to the underwriting department, management, headquarters, and the in-house risk management team.
  • You will actively monitor open claims files and continuously update the reserves in line with the progress of each file.
  • After the claim is settled, you assess the case on substantive grounds for recovery and, if necessary, initiate recovery actions in collaboration with recovery agents and attorneys.
  • You coordinate and monitor claims related to local policies within international insurance programs, and maintain contact with colleagues worldwide to identify potential issues in a timely manner with the aim of optimizing claims management.
  • You compile claims statistics and discuss them with the underwriting department to support policy renewals and the preparation of profit-sharing calculations.
  • You regularly participate in meetings with fellow claims managers to share and exchange knowledge.
  • You regularly consult with brokers, experts, and attorneys to stay well-informed.
  • You provide feedback to all relevant colleagues regarding the interpretation of policy terms following a claim and propose adjustments to the policy so that it better aligns with the insured’s activities.

Your profile

The ideal candidate:
  • Holds a master’s or bachelor’s degree, or has equivalent experience.
  • Preferably has experience in claims management in Marine Cargo.
  • Speaks excellent Dutch and French, and has a good command of English.
  • Can work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Works accurately and has strong analytical skills.
  • Possesses strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and has a service-oriented attitude.
  • Is eager to learn and open to new developments and ideas.
  • Is motivated and can handle stressful situations well.
  • Has extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and general IT systems.
