Legal & Compliance Officer

Description
- Identify and assess legal and compliance risks in Belgium that impact the Belgian organization and the broader group;
- Proactively manage these risks and be responsible for analysis, evidence and taking corrective action;
- Identify and implement changes in Belgian laws and regulations, including monitoring new and upcoming legislation through horizon scanning;
- Promote a compliance culture within the Belgian organization and increase awareness of compliance-related risks. Act as a point of contact for compliance issues in Belgium;
- Support the organization of employee compliance training, and advise on product development and organizational changes;
- Establish guidelines and procedures to ensure that the Belgian branch operates compliant to both external regulations and internal company rules, and monitor compliance through testing, observation and follow-up;
- Lead or be heavily involved in legal, regulatory and compliance projects or other projects with significant compliance impact in Belgium;
- Responsible for handling all required legal and regulatory notifications and reporting for the Belgian organization and the broader group;
- Oversee complaints and the complaints process, in accordance with Belgian regulations;
- Prepare and present the annual Compliance Action Plan to Belgian management, as well as develop and manage an annual Regulatory Risk & Compliance Plan, including quarterly reporting on Legal, Risk and Compliance incidents;
- Support local implementation of anti-corruption and anti-money laundering training and assessments, and ensure compliance with group and Belgian sanctions policy requirements;
- The position is primarily based in Antwerp. Occasional travel to other offices, including abroad, is part of the position.
Your profile
- You are preferably a qualified lawyer or have completed at least a legal education, with 5 to 10 years of experience as a lawyer or compliance officer in Belgium;
- You have strong skills in building and maintaining professional relationships;
- You have excellent language skills in French, English and Dutch;
- Experience or a background in regulation within the insurance or financial sector is a strong asset.

- Monthly salary indication: € 6001 - € 7500
- This is a part-time position of 60% to 85%;
