Description
- Follow up and implement actions arising from industry initiatives and partnerships;
- Participate in weekly consultations around Compliance & Risk within the organization;
- Active contribution to various consultation structures and working groups within the insurance industry, including topics such as insurance product distribution, legal developments, compliance, data protection (DPO), and more;
- Provide legally sound advice to all internal departments of the organization;
- Support first line compliance and risk management;
- Participate in sanctions compliance monitoring;
- Active participation in working groups;
- Drafting, analyzing and reviewing contracts with clients and cooperation partners, as requested by relevant departments;
- Identify and mitigate legal risks within the organization;
- Ensure correct compliance with relevant laws, regulations and internal policies, and contribute to strengthening compliance. In case of deviations or risks, liaise with the compliance officer;
- Manage legal disputes and procedures, in cooperation with external lawyers;
- Identify, analyze and implement new laws and regulations with impact on business operations;
- Draft and update legal policy documents and internal procedures;
- Advise management on strategic decisions with legal implications.
Your profile
- You have a master's degree in Law;
- You have at least 5 years of experience in the insurance sector and have a good knowledge of insurance law (mainly non-life insurance);
- You have a fluent oral and written knowledge of Dutch and French, and have a good knowledge of English, also in an insurance context;
- You have a thorough command of Microsoft Office, especially an advanced knowledge of Excel;
- You have knowledge of civil law, commercial law and labor law;
- You also preferably have knowledge of sector regulations and customs, organization, insurance supervision and European law applicable to the sector such as IDD (Insurance Distribution Directive), ESG (Environment, Social & Governance), DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act) and AML/CFT (Anti-money Laundering & Countering Financing of Terrorism act) etc..;
- You have minimum knowledge of compliance: compliance with laws, regulations, standards and internal guidelines applicable to an insurance organization;
- You work independently, take responsibility, and know how to combine pragmatism and client focus with a keen eye for risk;
- You are analytically strong, communicate clearly and in a structured way, set priorities, and enjoy working together as part of a team.
