Description
- Assist in all day-to-day legal matters;
- Negotiating and drafting commercial contracts, managing litigation and potential disputes;
- Develop customer policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance or regulatory affairs;
- Clarify legal language and set up legal training programs;
- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (external counsel, regulators, Ombudsfin, etc.), build relationships of trust or support the customer in such requests;
- Draft and amend contracts, procedures and other legal documents;
- Create and manage a solid legal contractual database;
- Optimize legal processes to eliminate inefficiencies;
- Keep up to date on all new laws/regulations;
- Regularly analyze customer actions and decisions, identify problem areas, propose alternatives and mitigating actions;
- Assist in transactional work and supervise external counsel where necessary (Mergers & Acquisitions, Structured Finance, and Capital Markets).
Your profile
- Master's degree in Belgian law;
- Fluency in written and spoken French or Dutch;
- Fluent in English, written and spoken;
- 5-7 years' experience;
- General legal background;
- Experience in Belgian IT contracts and/or banking law and/or litigation and/or tax law and/or general commercial law is an asset;
- Ability to work independently, efficiently, practically and proactively;
- Excellent analytical, communication, diplomatic, research and writing skills.
