Description
- Analyzing risks, calculating technical premiums, and determining pricing for both existing and potential business opportunities within the insurance sector.
- Reviewing and negotiating insurance policy wording.
- Participating in risk evaluations and monitoring risk improvement strategies.
- Compiling necessary information for Senior Underwriting Assistants.
- Creating underwriting justifications and documentation for business that exceeds personal authority.
- Managing portfolios, overseeing profitability, and taking corrective actions when necessary.
- Developing and implementing monitoring tools and conducting audits on portfolios.
- Identifying reinsurance needs and placing appropriate Facultative Reinsurance in partnership with the Reinsurance and Underwriting departments.
- Entering and updating relevant data in various underwriting software tools.
- Building and nurturing relationships with brokers, clients, and colleagues to enhance business outcomes.
- Undertaking special data management projects as requested by the Chief Underwriter, Managing Director, or Underwriting department head.
Your profile
We’re looking for someone who brings:- A degree in economics, law, or a related field, ideally with a specialization in insurance.
- Several years of hands-on experience in Marine Insurance.
- A proactive and resilient mindset, with self-motivation to excel.
- Entrepreneurial thinking paired with strong decision-making skills.
- A sense of responsibility and initiative to drive results.
- Team spirit and a collaborative approach to achieving goals.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-focused attitude.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools.
- Fluency in Dutch and French (spoken and written) and strong English language skills (business level).
