Life Ops Team Leader

As a team leader, you will be responsible for a team that requires significant people development and change management. You will be involved and accountable at various levels for the company's business, which is impacted by corporate priorities and regulatory requirements. Your role will involve ensuring a presence on the shop floor and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, you will contribute to major projects involving changes to application systems or procedures, as well as spearheading process improvements at the team level.


  • You demonstrate relevant business expertise and a high-level understanding of life operations business.
  • You cultivate a positive team climate and ensure motivation remains high among team members.
  • You lead a small to medium-sized team, managing and coaching team members with the support of higher management.
  • You oversee basic people management duties, including capacity management, resource organization, volume management, handling ad hoc requests, posting requisitions, and leading recruitment efforts.
  • You ensure continuous people development through regular one-on-one sessions, coaching, and process performance reviews throughout the year.
  • You translate departmental goals into SMART objectives and ensure the team meets them within agreed deadlines, prioritizing quality, quantity, and client/broker priorities.
  • You collaborate with the Life manager to co-create strategies and contribute to the overall strategy of the team.
  • You identify and assess the need for procedural enhancements and improvements, ensuring they align with evolving business needs.
  • You instill a customer-focused attitude within the team by identifying and addressing the needs and expectations of clients and brokers, actively proposing innovative solutions to enhance the customer experience.

  • You demonstrate a keen understanding of how actions and decisions impact business results.
  • You prioritize people management while seamlessly transitioning between project management and a people-centric approach.
  • Your understanding and management of risks include basic risk assessment, incident logging, and tracking action plans.
  • You excel in both oral and written communication.
  • You adeptly handle external stakeholders with support from the Life Ops manager and autonomously manage internal stakeholders.
  • Your positive and open-minded attitude fosters a supportive team environment. You serve as a role model for team respect.
  • You actively contribute to change management initiatives by crafting positive narratives and proactively participating for success.
  • Your coaching abilities are evident in your leadership style, which encourages participative problem-solving and supports individual initiatives.
