Portfolio and Monitoring Officer

Our client is a financial institution that seeks to support the private sector in developing countries by making investments in local businesses.
As Portfolio and Monitoring Officer, you will evaluate, structure and negotiate loan and equity investments in financial institutions, businesses and infrastructure in developing markets (Africa, Asia, Latin America) in line with the company's strategy. You will also help monitor portfolio investments, working with a motivated team in a friendly atmosphere. Our client is looking for someone with an excellent knowledge of financial transactions and instruments, as well as a good command of Dutch, French, English and Spanish.


  • Manage a portion of the company's loan investment portfolio with a focus on financial interests and its development mission.
  • As primary contact, closely manage the client relationship and monitor the financial situation, environment and performance of projects.
  • Participate in deal teams during the approval phase of a new project, and maintain the deal team (if necessary) after the project has been transferred to Portfolio.
  • Opportunity to participate in business development (analysis and approval of new projects), where appropriate (in close cooperation with FI, Enterprise or Infra teams).
  • Monitor country risks.
  • Share experience, knowledge and lessons learned with other teams (within and outside the Investment department).
  • Represent the company and participate in professional seminars, fairs and conferences in line with the Portfolio Monitoring team's mission.
  • Represent the company to other Belgian development players (embassies, Enabel, DGD, etc.).
  • Maintain several common tools.
  • Perform other tasks required by the Portfolio Monitoring team's mission.

Your profile

  • Higher education in Business Administration, Economics or Finance;
  • 5 years' relevant professional experience in corporate finance or corporate banking, credit analysis in a bank, investment company or audit firm;
  • Analytical and critical mind, organized, meticulous and autonomous;
  • Self-starter, quick learner and results-oriented;
  • Strong networking, negotiation and communication skills (oral and written);
  • Strong team spirit;
  • Fluency in Dutch, French and English is mandatory, and Spanish is an asset;
  • Strong affinity with impact investing and developing markets - first experience in the region is an asset;
  • Willingness to travel: ± 15% of time.
