Deputy Local Compliance Officer
Our client, a financial institution is looking for a Deputy Local Compliance Officer who will report to the Head of Compliance and is required to manage stakeholders in the Front Office and in Control functions.

- Building relationships with stakeholders across the Bank.
- Present challenge to GMs and to sometimes deliver difficult messages.
- Provide advice to the business on a daily basis, approx. 50 e-mails/day.
- Represent the Local Compliance Officer in his/her absence.
- Ensure timely delivery of tasks and deliverables of the Central Compliance team.
Description
- Give compliance advice and instructions to Front Office and Control & Support departments.
- Review, advise and obtain reasonable assurance that there is adequate documentation, procedures and resources available for the Central Compliance team.
- Investigate any identified potential or actual breach of relevant rules and regulations and assist in reporting to senior management and the regulatory authorities and in rectifying the situation.
- Assist the LCO in managing Compliance Analyst(s).
- Manage Central Compliance projects and to report to LCO on progress until completion.
- Assist the EMEA Training Manager to develop training material and deliver training sessions to Front Office and Control & Support departments within SMBC Brussels.

Excellent knowledge of english and french or dutchConsiderable experience of:
- advising businesses on how to comply with laws, rules and regulations
- investigating breaches of relevant laws, rules and regulations
- financial Services laws and regulations (essential)
- financial markets and banking activities (essential)
- prudential risks and financial conduct areas (essential)
- Ability to manage a number of issues, reviews and projects concurrently
