Strategic Account Manager

The SAM is responsible for external customer relations at a strategic and tactical level.
The main objectives are to satisfy and advise the customer on, and implement strategies to optimize Total Cost of Ownership and processes while increasing revenue and profitability.


External focus
  • Contract owner on behalf of the client
  • Interface between Customer and our client by meeting with your clients on a regular basis
  • Organize joint review meetings with Customer and Suppliers to ensure they are meeting SLAs and KPIs
  • Develop a deep understanding of the customer, their business and the market to keep the customer informed of fleet and mobility related market opportunities
  • Explore with the client opportunities for needs in other local and international subsidiaries
  • Identify and support opportunities for commercial advice to the Customer to optimise the Customer's Total Cost of Ownership, policies, taxes and processes etc.
  • Take the lead and/or support the Client in benchmarking market conditions and supplier selections as required
  • Present customer reports to the customer in a clear and meaningful way in line with the SLA and KPIs
  • Attend seminars and fleet related events to build knowledge and network to bring in new ideas for products and services
Internal focus
  • Develop, monitor and deliver an annual roadmap for clients
  • Ensure that agreed processes and programmes with the client are carried out in an effective and efficient manner
  • Coach, direct and lead at customer level internal departments such as Operations by being the interface and escalation point
  • Monitor workflows and workload by staying in line with agreed standards
  • Organising and/or attending internal team meetings, presenting issues and taking actions
  • Keeping the Management Team informed of current and anticipated opportunities and risks for the clients
  • Supporting the Sales Manager in cross selling activities
  • Prepare customer reports such as quarterly reports
  • Provide Market Intelligence by collecting market data and sharing it with the right people

  • Language skills: Fluent in local languages, Dutch and French (written and spoken), Good English (written and spoken)
  • Software skills: Experience with Microsoft Office, in particular PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

  • Flexible attitude and willing to go the extra mile
  • Like to work in a smaller company
  • Higher (commercial) education level or equivalent through demonstrable experience
  • Extensive experience in the leasing/fleet management industry is a big plus
  • Minimum of 5 years (strategic) Account Management experience
  • Know how to deal with complex stakeholder governance models
  • Experience in customer implementations and consulting projects
